The Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) is a massive infrastructure project in India, aiming to develop a high-tech industrial zone along a 1,483 km long dedicated freight corridor (DFC). It spans across six Indian states, connecting Delhi and Mumbai, and includes the development of smart cities, industrial areas, and logistic hubs. The project is a joint initiative between Japan and India, with the goal of boosting industrial output, exports, and employment opportunities. 

Key aspects of DMIC:

  • Infrastructure Development:The DMIC project involves building world-class infrastructure along the DFC, including power facilities, road and rail connectivity, and logistic hubs. 
  • Smart Cities:It focuses on developing self-sustained industrial townships, envisioned as smart cities with advanced infrastructure and high-tech manufacturing capabilities. 
  • Economic Growth:The project aims to create a globally competitive environment, attract foreign investment, and enhance India’s manufacturing and service base. 
  • State Involvement:The corridor passes through Uttar Pradesh, Delhi NCR, Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Maharashtra.
